Adams: I may quit Gunners

Arsenal legend Tony Adams has admitted that he would contemplate leaving Highbury if the right offer came along.
The England defender, on standby to skipper his country if Alan Shearer is not fit, claims that he would consider moving on if another London club made him an irresistible offer. Adams is well aware that his club manager Arsene Wenger is looking to the future and acquiring new talent for Arsenal. Wenger recently admitted that he would be using Euro 2000 to search for a long-term successor for his long-standing captain.
The 33-year-old, who joined Arsenal as a schoolboy in 1980, said he would consider other employers, according to reports in the Sunday Mirror. "If someone came in tomorrow and I felt comfortable, then I would go," he said. Adams will be trying to lay to rest the ghosts of Euro 96 and his subsequent drinking problems but says he will not risk any long-term damage to his body. "I'm not going out there when I'm not 100 per cent fit. If I am only 75 per cent fit I shall say 'sorry, I can't play'," Adams said. England play Portugal in Eindhoven on Monday.
