Earthquake rocks Taiwan, 15 hurt

A powerful earthquake hit Taiwan during the night, causing no deaths but injuring at least fifteen people.

The epicentre of the 'quake, which measured six-point-seven on the Richter scale, was in the middle of the country twenty-eight miles northeast of Jade Mountain.

It was followed by a series of strong after-shocks which forced many people to stay out in the streets for much of the night.

Minor tremors and aftershocks have been an almost daily occurrence in Taiwan since last September when an earthquake killed more than two thousand people and left a-hundred thousand homeless.
