Paraguay's president cancels another foreign trip
The Paraguayan president, Luis Gonzalez Macchi, has cancelled another foreign trip following recent protests against his government. The Foreign Ministry said the president would not be attending the Group of Rio¿s meeting in Colombia next week because of the climate of instability in Paraguay. Yesterday Friday, a group of state workers and peasants protested against the International Monetary Fund and the government's plan to privatise state companies. President Macchi has already called off visits to Spain and Germany. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
