Six other players, including another former captain and leading paceman Wasim Akram, were also fined.

"I have been banned and fined unjustly and I will protest that," Malik said.

"I have the services of a lawyer and we are waiting for the official letter showing the life ban from the Pakistan Cricket Board."

"I still maintain that I have done nothing wrong."

Malik was banned from the sport after allegations that he offered a bribe to Australian players in 1994 were found to be strong enough to secure a conviction.
