Pierce wins French Open

Tennis : Mary Pierce has become the first Frenchwoman for thirty-three years to win the French Open title.

In the final in Paris, she beat Conchita Martinez of Spain 6-2, 7-5.

It was the second grand slam win for Pierce -- she won the Australian Open in 1995.
