The panel's view - 10 June

Throughout the tournament BBC Sport Online is offering you the chance to quiz Match of the Day's experts at Euro2000.

E-mails from the programme on 10 June were answered by Dion Dublin and Mark Lawrenson:

Q: Why do England persist in playing right-sided players out of position on the left?
Paul MacDonald from Australia

Dion : If you are looking at left siders in the squad my Villa team-mate Gareth Barry is definitely the one who would go in.

But Phil Neville has got a lot of experience as well. Against Portugal I think I would play Phil.

I would leave Gareth for now and let him get a bit more experience.

Q: Isn't England's pedestrian defence going to be rumbled by the pace of the Portuguese and Romanian attacks ?
Simon from London

Mark: As far as the group games I would say the answer to that is no.

I would be worried more with teams like Holland and France, with Anelka and Henry and those people.

Q: Do you think it is worth practising penalties as the conditions in training and those in the match are never the same ?
Kelvin Charles from England

Dion: Some players like to but personally I don't like to practise penalties because if you take three or four penalties and you miss them all then your confidence is down.

So I take a penalty, if I miss I will wait until I score, then I go home.

Q: Holland and France may be favourites to finish first and second in Group D but everyone seems to be forgetting about the Czechs. Remember they came second last time and won all their games in qualifying.
James Scarr from England

Mark: I have seen the Czechs a couple of times since they actually qualified and I am not convinced.

I think they are extremely static at the back and bearing in mind the group that they are in, I think that is close to suicide for them.
