Body found in murder hunt

Detectives have found a woman's body after charging a man with the murder of his missing 21-year-old wife.

Lynsey Quy vanished from her home in Southport, Merseyside - which she shared with her husband, Mitchell Quy - in December 1998.

On Friday, Mr Quy was charged with the murder of the former barmaid and with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

His brother Elliott Quy, 22, also of Southport, has been charged with helping in the alleged killing and in the disposal of her body.

Their father, Michael Quy, 52, from Lathom, Lancashire, has also been accused of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

Post mortem tests

Police said that the body was found in Birkdale Village, Merseyside. The area is half a mile from the house Mr and Mrs Quy shared with their two children.

Officers from the Merseyside force said that a post mortem examination was being carried out but the results were not likely to be known until next week.

They said further searches would also take place. Police have been using a mechanical digger to search land near Southport's seaside Pleasureland park.

Mitchell Quy is accused of murdering his wife between 15 December, 1998, and 5 February, 1999.

He and Michael Quy are both charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice by pretending that Mrs Quy was still alive between 15 December, 1998, and 21 September, 1999.

Mitchell Quy appeared before North Sefton magistrates' court in Southport on Saturday. He was remanded in custody to appear before the same court next Friday.

Michael Quy also appeared before the court on Saturday. He was bailed to return on 7 July.

Elliott Quy appeared before magistrates in South Sefton, Bootle, on Saturday. He was remanded in custody to appear before North Sefton magistrates next Friday.
