Yorkshire move top

Yorkshire beat Durham by six wickets

Yorkshire moved to the top of the table after a comprehensive six-wicket victory over Durham, with a day to spare.

The hosts resumed the day on 94-5, still 11 runs behind Yorkshire's first innings total of 294, but with only two runs added, Darren Gough struck.

Gough finished with six wickets, which left his team with only 97 to win.

They made heavy weather of it in the early stages, with David Byas and Michael Vaughan both dismissed cheaply, but Richard Blakey steered them home.

Somerset beat Kent by two wickets

An unbroken ninth-wicket stand of 41 between Ian Blackwell and Andrew Caddick guided Somerset to a closely fought two-wicket victory.

Somerset began the final day of the Division One contest on 50-3 chasing 190 to win.

They were plunged deep into trouble at 127-7 shortly after lunch, but some determined late-order batting gave a final twist to a compelling match.

Blackwell made 27no and Caddick was unbeaten on 21 when victory came.

Nottinghamshire v Worcestershire: Worcs 402 & 292-7 dec - Notts 313 & 13-0

Worcestershire batted themselves into a virtually unbeatable position at Trent Bridge and are ready to let Glenn McGrath loose on Nottinghamshire again.

On a day of many records, the Australian fast bowler took the one remaining Notts first-innings wicket to finish with eight for 86 - his best return from his short career in county cricket.

The dismissal only came, however, after Usman Afzaal and Andrew Harris had each hit career-best scores and equalled the record final-wicket stand for Notts of 152 set 89 years before.

Notts will resume on the final day needing an unlikely 369 runs for victory.
