Group C friendly form
![]() Spain are favourites in many eyes
Managers like to tell you there is no such thing as a friendly in
international football. So, results since qualification for the European Championships should provide a fair reflection of who will be among
the runners and riders in Holland and Belgium over the next month. BBC Sport Online takes a look at the friendly form of those in Group C of Euro 2000.
Spain are many people's favourites after their explosive qualifying sequence in which, after losing in Cyprus, they won all of their next seven games and in total scored 42 goals. They have rather put their feet up since then in the friendlies although they impressed when beating Italy in Barcelona. Norway also overcame Italy, last week, and they are encouraged by a steady and, as ever, thorough warm-up schedule. Finishing second in their qualifying group, Slovenia upset the apple-cart when making the finals by beating Ukraine in the play-offs and their narrow defeat by France this year marks them out as a tricky hurdle. Yugoslavia have played loads of warm-up games but against opposition of dubious quality.
