Redknapp looks for American recovery

England midfielder Jamie Redknapp is to undergo surgery in the United States in an attempt to resurrect his career.
The 26-year-old Liverpool star underwent surgery last November but missed out on Euro 2000 after seemingly making a successful comeback with his club side at the end of the Premiership season. Redknapp will visit one of the world's leading orthopaedic surgeons, Richard Steadman, in Colorado in an attempt to discover the cause of a persistent knee problem. Steadman, who works with the American Olympic ski team, has previously operated on Karl-Heinz Reidle, and Czech midfielder Patrik Berger and Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy have also received attention at the clinic. Liverpool Football Club confirmed last week that Redknapp will not be able to resume training before August, which is likely to rule him out of the first part of next Premiership season.
