More SA cricketers to give evidence

The South African official inquiry into match-fixing in cricket goes into its third day amid expectations that further admissions of corruption may emerge.

Yesterday, the inquiry heard the Test batsman, Herschelle Gibbs, admit that in India he once accepted the offer of a bribe from his former captain, Hansie Cronje, although in the event he reneged and the money was not paid. It was the exposure of Cronje's dealings with professional gamblers in India which led to his sacking as team captain and to the setting-up of the inquiry. Today Friday, other members of the team will be giving evidence, including Henry Williams who was a room-mate of Gibbs during the Indian tour.
