Colombian pensioner dies waiting for...pension
A retired Colombian civil servant has collapsed and died while queing for a government certificate to prove he was still alive and eligible to draw his pension. The eighty-seven-year old man Arturo Suspe had been waiting for more than two hours in a local government office in the capital, Bogota, when he suffered a heart attack and died. He was forced to apply for the certificate by regulations introduced to prevent fraudulent pensions claims. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
