Brazil airport heist nets $1.5m
Armed men in Brazil have stolen more than one-and-a-half million dollars from an aeroplane at Sao Paulo's main airport in an audacious daylight robbery. Overpowering security guards, they drove to the runway and seized sacks of cash from a plane which was about to take off before making their escape. One man was grazed by a bullet. Police said the robbery was well-planned and appeared to have been carried out by professionals. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
