Five Serb policemen hurt in explosion

Serbian police say five police officers were injured when their vehicle hit a land mine near Serbia's border with the Yugoslav province of Kosovo.

The incident occurred in south-east Serbia inside the five-kilometre-wide security corridor separating Serbia and Kosovo. The most seriously injured officer was flown to Belgrade for treatment. Police said that three more mines were found nearby. The region lies outside the area controlled by the NATO-led peacekeeping mission and only Serbian police officers are allowed within the security corridor.
