![]() Pop superstar Madonna was the victim of a break-in
Burglars raided Madonna's plush London home while she was attending the premiere of her new movie.
The pregnant superstar arrived back from the launch of The Next Best Thing with boyfriend Guy Ritchie to find police at her rented mansion in Kensington. Raiders had forced open the front gate of the £2m Edwardian property, before breaking into the gardener's quarters. But they had not been able to break into the main part of the house and nothing belonging to Madonna had been taken.
A police spokesman confirmed a house in Kensington had been broken into in the early hours of Wednesday. Employee He would not say whose home it was, but revealed that property belonging to an employee had been removed from an outhouse. Madonna , who is expecting a baby with film director Ritchie in September, was said to be distressed and annoyed by the burglary. Earlier, she had been in good spirits for the premiere at The Odeon West End in Leicester Square. The 41-year-old singer and actress proudly showed off her bump to reporters and admitted she had developed a few cravings during her pregnancy. "It's really funny but I've got this craving for eggs and olives. But right now I could settle for a packet of crisps," she said. Madonna joked that she had picked a black outfit for the occasion because "it's a slimming colour - anything else makes me look like a sofa".
