Hollow victory for Reid
King's Best
King's Best and Kieren Fallon
Former Derby winner John Reid is tipping Beat Hollow for big-race success at Epsom on Saturday.

Sagitta 2000 Guineas winner King's Best, ridden by Kieren Fallon, is the favourite for the one mile four furlong showpiece.

But Reid, who won the Derby on Dr Devious eight years ago, thinks Beat Hollow will emerge triumphant.

Reid partners Going Global at Epsom on Saturday but admits he has been particularly impressed by Henry Cecil's main contender, who is second favourite for the big race.

"I have seen Beat Hollow in action and I have the feeling, judging by the way he worked, that he is unbeatable if he stays the trip," said Reid.

Cecil: tipped for success
"I know some have said that he hasn't had a lot of public exposure but Lammtarra was in a similar situation five years ago and he won the Derby.

"So it's not impossible for a horse with a lot of class and Beat Hollow certainly has that."

There were no surprise omissions when final declarations for the Derby were made on Thursday, with Ciro, Hataab, Media Puzzle and Shakespeare the only absentees.

Fallon's hope for a low draw was fulfilled when King's Best was allotted stall one.

Oath started from the same position when winning the race under Fallon a year ago.

Of the other leading fancies Beat Hollow is in stall 10, Aristotle in eight, Sakhee in seven, Best Of The Bests in three and Sinndar in 15.

Six of the last 10 Derby winners have been drawn in single figures but a low berth is not essential - High-Rise won from stall 14 of 15 runners in 1998.
