Solskjaer leading United poll
![]() Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (right) seems the fans favourite
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the surprise leader of Manchester United's player of the year poll.
The Norwegian international is ahead of the likes of David Beckham, Ryan Giggs and Roy Keane despite his status as United 'supersub'. The voting, conducted on United's official website, has seen the player reach the top of the poll in recent days ahead of his more illustrious rivals. The 26-year-old has largely played second fiddle to Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole during the past season and started just 25 of the 58 games played. But he still managed to notch up 15 goals and has insisted he is happy to stay at Old Trafford despite his bit-part role. Solskjaer's status as a United folk legend was cemented after he scored the winning goal in the 1999 Champions League final against Bayern Munich. |
