Kocic out of Euro 2000
![]() Kocic has been ruled out of Euro 2000
The injury which has forced Yugoslavia's number one goalkeeper Alexandar Kocic to pull out from Euro 2000 was sustained in a freak domestic accident.
Kocic's broke a finger after he slipped when leaving the shower. "This happens once in 100 years," said Kocic, who plays for Red Star Belgrade. "I don't know how I could fall just before the trip...I have no luck but that's life and you have to get used to it." "I believe the victories of my friends will ease the pain." Red Star Belgrade keeper Kocic will be replaced by Obilic custodian Milorad Korac under rules that allow a player to be called up in the event of a medically certifiable injury. The other two goalkeepers in the squad are PSV Eindhoven's Ivica Kralj and Zeljko Cicovic of Spanish outfit Las Palmas. Kocic is the second first-choice keeper to miss out on Euro 2000 after Italian Gianluigi Buffon fractured his hand in the friendly against Norway. |
