Former Bihar leader in custody

A former chief minister of the Indian state of Bihar, Jagannath Mishra, has been remanded in custody in a corruption case which has become known as the fodder scam.

He is one of many top politicians and civil servants being investigated for their alleged role in siphoning off millions of dollars allocated by the central government to Bihar's animal husbandry department for buying fodder.

It is the third time that Mr Mishra has been remanded in the case.

Another former chief minister and president of the state's governing Rashtriya Janata Dal party, Laloo Prasad Yadav, has also been charged in the case but released on bail.
