Rapper Eminem on gun charges

Eminem is expected to plead innocent to the charges
Grammy award-winning rapper Eminem is on two gun charges in the US after a fight which allegedly started when he saw a man kissing his wife.

The 27-year-old performer, real name Marshall Bruce Mathers III, is charged with one count of carrying a concealed weapon and one count of assault with a deadly weapon after the incident in his home town of Warren, Michigan.

Macomb County prosecutor Carl Marlinga said Eminem hit John Guerra over the head with an unloaded 9mm Smith & Wesson gun after he saw Guerra kissing his wife, 27-year-old Kimberly Mathers, outside a bar in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Mathers told the Detroit Free Press her husband "over-reacted" to a kiss between friends.

Eminem's lawyer, Howard Hertz, said his client planned to let the judge enter an innocent plea for him at Warren District Court on Wednesday.

Earlier this year, Eminem won two Grammy awards, one for his debut album The Slim Shady LP, and another for best rap solo performance on the single My Name Is.

His second album, The Marshall Mathers LP, is currently at number one in the US, and number three in the UK.
