| There had been speculation that BA would take over KLM, amid reports that the UK airline had appointed an investment bank for advice on the deal. The two companies have US partners also rumoured to be merging: American Airlines, part of BA's Oneworld alliance; and Northwest Airlines, KLM's alliance partner. The BBC's Max Foster reports.
