Norway stars staying focused
![]() Solskjaer is cautious about Norway's hopes
Vegard Heggem and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have warned Norway not to get carried away in their quest for Euro 2000 glory.
Norway warmed up for their opening match against Group C favourites Spain with a 1-0 victory in a friendly match against a full-strength Italy side. But Man Utd forward Solskjaer has urged caution from fans and players alike. He said: "We're very pleased with the result of course, but there's no reason for us to let it go to our heads.
Norway qualified for the finals in some style - winning eight of their ten group games - but Solskjaer believes they must continue to work hard if they want to progress. "Norway's defence worked hard against Italy, but good team spirit was very important," he added.
"Less important were the finer points of football." Liverpool defender Vegard Heggem echoed Solskjaer's note of caution, insisting Norway need to shift up a gear if they are to stand any real chance. Heggem said: "I still think we need to crank up our game a couple of notches if we're to have any hope of making anything out of our games in the group."
