Florida escapee captured in swamp

Police in the American state of Florida have captured an escaped convict a day after he broke out of jail in a helicopter.

The man, who was being held for child sex offences, was discovered with the helicopter pilot in mosquito-infested swamp land close to the corrections centre, north of Miami.

In a daring escape on Monday, which officials likened to a Hollywood film, the helicopter swooped into the grounds where the man was being detained, only to crash shortly after take-off.

It later transpired the man's accomplice was a trainee pilot.
