Windies struggle in Cardiff
![]() Lara is out for a duck after being stumped
West Indies 176 all out - Glamorgan 44-2
The West Indies were dismissed for just 176 - with Brian Lara out for a duck - on the first day of a three-day tour match against Glamorgan in Cardiff. It meant Brian Lara's rehabilitation in the West Indies team suffered a further setback. The left-hander managed only one run in each innings in the drawn game against Worcestershire and failed to trouble the scorers this time despite spending 15 minutes at the crease. He was out when he overbalanced attempting to clip former England spinner Robert Croft through mid-wicket and Adrian Shaw completed a neat stumping. His worrying lack of form puts the West Indies selectors into a quandary. However they will not stuck about a decision over youngster Wavell Hinds. The left-hander hit an unbeaten 105, with 14 boundaries in a 202-ball innings. The next top score was Mahendra Nagamootoo, who scored 22 runs, in a dismal innings by West Indies standards. Glamorgan were 44 for two after 19 overs at stumps on the first day of the three-day fixture. At least Lara ended the day on something of a high by taking a catch to remove Michael Powell for two. |
