Bergkamp's Euro 2000 swansong

Dennis Bergkamp has confirmed that he will play his final game for Holland during Euro 2000.
The 31-year-old Arsenal striker says his fear of flying rules out taking part in the 2002 World Cup Finals in Japan and South Korea. He said: "I won't fly there so it's probably better not to take part in the qualifying matches either. "I want to concentrate on my job at Arsenal, and I really want to be successful in the Champions League. "That's why I prefer to put all my energy inmto the club rather than travelling all year with Holland." Last chance After 37 goals in 74 international appearances to date, Bergkamp's decision means Euro 2000 is his last chance for glory with Holland. "The potential is there, we have failed a couple of times, but now it has to happen - we have to win it." Another striker with the Dutch squad, Pierre Van Hooijdonk, could be heading for PSV Eindhoven after Euro 2000.
PSV need fresh firepower up front after the departure of Luc Nilis to Aston Villa and the long-term injury to Ruud van Nistelroy. Referring to A PSV spokesman said: "We've had initial contact, that's all I can say." Van Hooijdonk has made 20 international appearances, mostly as substitute, scoring seven times. He has three years left on his contract with Vitesse, but the prospect of Champions League football at PSV may prove tempting.
