Paulson defends US bailout plan

The US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, has told a Congressional committee that lending will not be restored as quickly as he would have liked.

But he said using the $700bn Troubled Asset Relief Program should speed up any economic recovery and contingency plans were being made to deal with any future problems.
