Sarah Palin, seen here as a city council member in Alaska in the mid-1990s, has reportedly undergone a $150,000 image makeover paid for by the Republican National Committee (RNC).
Some of the results were on show when Mrs Palin's family appeared at the Republican National Convention. Her youngest child, Trig, wore a $92 romper suit paid for by the party.
Mrs Palin has been sporting a variety of brooches on her jackets, perhaps some of the "campaign accessories" listed in the RNC's expense report.
Some $4,100 was spent by the RNC on make-up and hair consulting, according to its expenses, while nearly $5,000 was spent at men's clothing store Atelier, in New York.
Mrs Palin's willingness to show off her legs on the campaign trail has been remarked upon by some observers.
The mother-of-five brought her love of high heels to knee-high boots at a rally in Pennsylvania last week. Her new, more relaxed, hairstyle was also on display.
Mrs Palin replaced her high heels with stylish sneakers, though, for an appearance at a professional hockey game.
Mrs Palin's wardrobe may have transformed over the past few weeks but her rimless glasses have remained a constant. A boost in sales of the frames has been reported as a result.
The RNC has said the clothing will be donated to charity after election day - so Mrs Palin may have to wave farewell to her glamorous new look.
