Sinai coach crash kills tourists

Egypt map

Twelve tourists, including seven foreigners, have been killed in a road accident in Egypt's Sinai peninsula, reports say.

Their coach hit a lorry head-on near the Red Sea resort town of Sudr.

An emergency services official said the dead foreigners included citizens of the Netherlands, Russia and Ukraine.

Egypt has a history of serious road accidents because of poor driving and road conditions, and because of poorly maintained vehicles.

At least 8,000 people were killed in accidents in 2006.
