Paulo Rink
Born and raised in Brazil, he qualified to play for Germany with Grandparents from Heidelberg, who emigrated to Brazil at the beginning of the century.
Rink obtained his German citizenship back in 1997, soon after arriving in Germany from Atletico Paranaense.
Began disappointingly in the German league with Leverkusen but Rink developed rapidly and having been drafted into the national squad at the end of 1998, has been close to claming a regular place ever since.
Another Leverkusen player who's efforts in pushing the club close to the championship have been recognised. Recalled to the squad in March 2000 by Eric Ribbecks.
