Students in Jakarta protest against police

There's also been violence in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, but the trigger there was political protests.

Hundreds of students and other demonstrators, calling for the arrest and trial of former President Suharto for corruption, took over parts of the city centre and set a number of army vehicles on fire.

They were reportedly protesting against a police attack on a similar demonstration held yesterday on Thursday.
