Thirty injured in bomb explosion

Police in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh say at least thirty people have been injured in a bomb explosion during a religious gathering of Christians.

Five people have been detained in connection with the blast.

Various Christian groups in India have accused Hindu hardliners of stepping up attacks on the country's Christian minority. One of the worst attacks was on an Australian missionary and his two young sons who were burnt to death by a crowd in Orissa last year. A BBC correspondent in Andhra Pradesh says this is the first time in the state that an attack has been carried out on a religious congregation.
