Virgin launches car sales service
![]() Sir Richard Branson hopes Virgin car sales will take off
Sir Richard Branson entered the world of motor retailing on Monday with the launch of his new business, Virgin Cars.
The entrepreneur has promised big savings to customers, claiming prices will be up to 40% lower than those currently on offer.
Virgin Cars will operate via the internet, selling vehicles from manufacturers including Ford, Vauxhall and Rover.
Ian Lancaster, chief executive of Virgin Cars said: "Buying and owning a car will never be the same. "We are not just about bringing down the price of new cars - we are going to change the marketplace. We will take the pain from buying a car and remove the hassle of owning it." Cars will be available direct from manufacturers and imported cars will also be sold. Women targeted All vehicles will comply with UK specifications and the company says the average saving will be 22% off current UK recommended prices. Virgin is also offering special financing options and an aftersales and servicing programme in a service that is particularly aimed at female buyers. The company plans to launch Virgin Cars in France and Germany soon and in all other EU markets next year.
