Mexican TV debate cancelled

In Mexico a televised debate between the three leading presidential candidates has been cancelled.

The debate was due to take place on Tuesday and was going to be between Francisco Labastida of the governing Insitutional Revolutionary Party, Vicente Fox of the National Action Party and Cuauhtemoc Cardenas of the Democratic Revolution Party.

Organisers said none of the candidates could agree on a format for the debate.

Opinion polls taken immediately after a previous televised debate in April showed that Vicente Fox won.
