Sylvain Wiltord
Although overshadowed that day by Nicolas Anelka and his two goals, and since then by the continued emergence of Thierry Henry and David Trezuguet, Wiltord has won his place in the squad on merit. Likely to be used as a sub at best, Wiltord began his career at Stade Rennais before moving on to Bordeaux in 1998. Failed to make the national squad for the last World Cup but has taken the place of Stephane Guivarc'h this time around.
