Jenei has to wait for overseas stars
![]() The majority of the Romanian team play their club football outside their home land
Romania coach, Emerich Jenei, is bemoaning the absence of his star foreign-based players.
Like most of the coaches at Euro 2000, Jenei's players are spread far and wide around Europe. Romania are due to play Holland in a friendly international on 27 May, but Jenei is still waiting for most of his squad to assemble.
"I'm working with only 10 players from the Romanian championship," says Jenei. The lack of players has forced Jenei to cancel a training session which he had planned for the Carpathian mountain resort of Poiana Brasov. Jenei will, however, be boosted by the performance of Gheorghe Hagi in the UEFA Cup Final.
He was perhaps a little unfortunate to be sent off after a spat with Tony Adams and the two of them are expected to line up against one another when England face Romania on 20 June.
