S Club 7 back maths drive
S Club 7
Pop stardom can be as easy as 1-2-3 with S Club 7
Hit band S Club 7 is to spearhead a new maths drive in schools by tempting pupils with a taste of pop stardom.

Every secondary school in the country will be sent a special CD featuring the band singing one verse and the chorus from a track called "Count on Me".

Children are asked to compose and perform two more verses - with a mathematical theme - and the best entry will win a recording session at London's famous Abbey Road studios and the chance to meet S Club 7.

The competition - part of Maths Year 2000 and the National Numeracy Strategy - aims to persuade teenagers that maths is fun.

Education Secretary David Blunkett said: "This is an excellent way of selling maths to a teenage audience".
