US walkway collapses: 40 injured

A pedestrian walkway has collapsed at a motor racing event in Concord in the US state of North Carolina.

A hospital spokesperson said more than forty people had been injured; half of them were in a critical condition.

A section of walkway gave way as spectators leaving a motor speedway event were crossing it.

They fell about five metres onto a highway.

The reason for the collapse is not known.
