Pakistan openers hit back
Mohammed Wasim
Wasim: A solid 53 in a fine partnership with Nazir

Pakistan second innings 152-0, seven ahead

Pakistan's Mohammad Wasim and Imran Nazir made a fine opening stand on the third day of the second Test at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

Eighteen-year-old opener Imran Nazir, playing only his second test, scored 94 and Mohammad Wasim collected a solid 53 as Pakistan fought back against the West Indies on Saturday.

Pakistan wiped out the first innings deficit of 145 and finished on 152, seven runs ahead, by the close of the third day.

Nazir: Teenager has made 94 in only his second test
Earlier in the day, the West Indies had stretched their overnight 253 for five to 398 all out, led by 19-year-old Ramnaresh Sarwan's undefeated 84 in his debut test.

Off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq was the best of the bowlers with five for 121 off 51 overs.

But the West Indies' advantage was wiped away in an extended final session as both young Pakistanis made full use of a favourable batting surface.

Scorecard: Pakistan 253 and 152-0 (Imran Nazir 94 not out, Mohammad Wasim 53 not out); West Indies 398 (Wavell Hinds 165, Ramnaresh Sarwan 84 not out; Saqlain Mushtaq 5-121).
