Swiss businessmen explore Algerian market

A delegation of Swiss businessmen is in Algeria to explore investment opportunities.

Algerian television said forty Swiss businessmen held talks on investment in various sectors of the economy, including finance, telecommunications and agriculture.

The talks also covered cooperation in the fields of tourism and mining.

Correspondents say there's been growing interest in the Algerian market since the election of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika last year, who promised to reform the economy and improve the security situation after years of Islamic insurgency and widespread violence. A according to the Algerian television, the volume of trade between the Switzerland and Algeria last year reached one-hundred-and-sixty-million dollars.
