Tajik TV chief shot dead

Reports from the Central Asian republic of Tajikistan say the head of the country's television and radio company, Sayfullo Rahimov, has been shot dead.

The ITAR-TASS news agency, quoting the Tajik security ministry, said Mr Rahimov was attacked by six unidentified men who ambushed his car in the centre of the capital, Dushanbe.

His driver was seriously injured in the shooting.

The killing took place late on Saturday, as Mr Rahimov was on his way home.

The motive for the attack is not known.
