Suharto to stand trial

The Attorney General in Indonesia has said he expects former president Suharto to be put on trial before the end of August.

Mr Suharto, who was forced from office in 1998 after thirty-two years in power, is being investigated over accusations of massive corruption.

He denies any wrongdoing.

His lawyers also say he is too ill to be investigated.

The attorney general Marzuki Darusman warned that security for the former president and his family would be reduced to a minimum if he did not cooperate with efforts to find assets he allegedly stole while in office.
