Madonna's boyfriend arrested
![]() Guy Ritchie and Madonna are expecting a baby
Madonna's boyfriend Guy Ritchie has been arrested, after a man was attacked outside the singer's London home.
The 31-year-old British film director is said to have approached a man after returning with the performer from a night out. The man, aged 20, is thought to have been a fan waiting to catch a glimpse of Madonna, who is five months pregnant, outside the rented home she shares with Mr Ritchie in Kensington. Mr Ritchie, who directed the hit film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, was later arrested in connection with an assault causing actual bodily harm.
He was bailed until next month pending further police inquiries. Scotland Yard confirmed that a man had been arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm in the early hours of Wednesday. A police spokeswoman said: "He was taken to Notting Hill police station and bailed to return on 1 June. "The victim's injuries were minor and did not require hospital treatment." Revealing Ritchie's agents declined to comment, but the director gave a revealing interview about his relationship with Madonna in Thursday's Evening Standard. He told the London newspaper's ES Magazine: "She's as good as gold, incredibly relaxed and down to earth. Her feet are firmer on the ground than almost any other person I've ever met." The couple's baby is due in September - around the same time as his new film Snatch is released - and Ritchie can't wait. "Someone sold me the idea that it's great for the ego. It's like having a little `you' around. "I've no idea what it's going to do to my life and I don't know what it means in terms of my career," he confessed. Ritchie added that they had no plans to marry and, contrary to reports, did not know the sex of their baby.
Madonna, who recently had a UK number one single with a cover of Don McLean's American Pie, spends much of her time in London with her boyfriend and daughter Lourdes, but she has been plagued by a series of stalkers during her successful career. In October, she and Lourdes were given a police escort off a British Airways jet at Heathrow following a threat to kill her. And three months ago she was sent a chilling video from Robert Hoskins, who is serving a 10-year jail sentence for threatening to kill her. Earlier this year, Madonna put her £4m mansion in Chelsea back on the market because it was "too visible" and advisers told her it was a security risk.
