Big day for Britain's smallest house
![]() Britain's smallest house is a big tourist attraction
It is 100 years this week since the last tenant of Britain's smallest house finally moved out.
The house - which was built in the 16th Century during the reign of Elizabeth the First - is situated on the quayside at Conwy and is now one of the most popular tourist attractions in Wales.
Britain's smallest house is over 400 years old but for the last century would-be tenants have been worried it might cramp their style. The house is just six feet wide and ten feet high and its last occupant was six feet three inches tall. It is still sound structurally but was eventually condemned because it had no toilet facilities. Even if it were on the market it would prove a challenge for any estate agent. Tourists from all over the world flock to see the house and a recorded history of the property is available in 17 different languages. While it is hardly roomy, it is definitely not a waste of space and the owners hope it will keep drawing the tourists for another 100 years.
