Hammers wrap up Kanoute deal

West Ham have completed the £4m signing of French international striker Frederic Kanoute from Lyon.
Hammers chairman Terence Brown flew to France last Friday to finalise terms for the 23 year-old, who has signed a four-year deal. Kanoute has already had a spell on loan this season at Upton Park, making nine Premiership appearances and scoring two goals.
Midfielder Marc-Vivien Foe has moved in the opposite direction for £6m. Foe was sent off in last Sunday's goalless draw with Leeds for stamping on Matthew Jones. Aldridge said that although Kanoute was a great signing for the club he was sorry to lose Foe, but pointed out it had always been the player's intention to return to France. "We welcome Freddie to Upton Park and wish Marc every success with Lyon," Aldridge said. |
