Life for barbecue killing
Guilty of murder
Man was stabbed to death after leaving a barbacue
A man who killed a partygoer after his friend was sick in his front garden has been sentenced to life in prison.

Kelvin George, 26, of Shepherd's Bush, west London, was found guilty at the Old Bailey jury of murdering New Zealander Ian Tarr, 31.

The court was told that George, who lived in Loftus Road, saw Mr Tarr's friend Damien Brosnahan being sick from his flat window and became angry.

George shouted at the group of revellers, who had been to a barbecue nearby, before confronting them and punching Mr Brosnahan in the face.

Mr Tarr stepped in to stop the scuffle and was stabbed twice by George with a knife - once through the heart.

Judge Ann Goddard told George: "Mr Tarr died because you went out and had a knife with you. Now the victim's family and friends have to live with the tragedy of this."

George, who had a number of convictions for violence and possessing knives, claimed he had acted in self-defence.
