Wells plan for drought-stricken Afghanistan
The United Nations says it's planning to dig or deepen about two-hundred-and-fifty wells in southern Afghanistan which has been devastated by drought. The new wells are being drilled to provide drinking water. It's also been confirmed that the United States has promised to give half-a-million dollars for water projects. Thousands of nomads have left southern Afghanistan in search of pasture for cattles. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
