Women-only buses for Bangkok
Transport officials in the Thai capital Bangkok are hoping that the launch of a women-only bus service will attract more women back to public transport. The director of the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority has told the BBC that the new service, which will run during rush hours from the end of May, is in response to complaints from women about harassment and theft. About three-million people a day travel on Bankgok buses. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
