Eddie Mair
Eddie Mair has been the presenter of Broadcasting House since it began in April 1998. Of all the news and current affairs programmes on Sunday morning, on radio and television, Broadcasting House has the largest audience - almost two million listeners every week. In 2000, it was nominated for a Sony award for Best Breakfast Show. It has been critically lauded for its innovation. The Daily Telegraph's Gillian Reynolds calls it "unmissable". Before Broadcasting House, Eddie helped launch BBC Radio 5 Live, fronting Midday with Mair, which won him two Sony Award nominations - for News Presentation and Talk Broadcaster of the Year.
In 1987 he joined the BBC, starting as a sub-editor for Radio Scotland and later presenting the station's flagship television and radio news programmes, Reporting Scotland and Good Morning Scotland. He then moved to host the new morning programme Eddie Mair Live, which won a Gold Sony Award for best Breakfast Show. He says of Broadcasting House: "It's the highlight of my week. Isn't it yours?" Eddie is also a regular presenter of BH's sister programme, PM.
