Japan aid boost for Nigeria

The government of Japan says it will donate more than three-and-a-half million dollars to Nigeria to aid its food production.

A statement from the Japanese embassy in Nigeria said an agreement on the donation will be signed on Friday in Abuja by the Chief Economic Adviser to President Olusegun Obasanjo , Phillip Asiodu, and the Japanese ambassador to Nigeria, Takahisa Sasaki.

The statement said the aid is to support about fifteen-thousand rice farmers across Nigeria.
