Uganda referendum date fixed
The Electoral Commission in Uganda has announced a date for a national referendum on the future political system for the country. The chairman of the Electoral Commission Haji Aziz Kasujja said it would be held on the twenty-ninth of June. He said Ugandans would be able to choose whether their country continued to be ruled by a political movement or through a multi-party political system. President Museveni's National Resistance Movement came to power after a five-year military struggle in 1986 -- the activities of political parties have remained restricted since then.
